35th ‘Conversations at the UC House of Lusophony’ celebrates World Portuguese Language Day
Ana Paula Laborinho will deliver a talk at the event, which will also pay tribute to Vítor Ramalho, former Secretary-General of the Union of Portuguese-Speaking Capital Cities.
The University of Coimbra (UC) will host the 35th edition of Conversas da Casa da Lusofonia (Conversations at the House of Lusophony) on Monday, 5 May, World Portuguese Language Day. The event begins at 14:30 and features a keynote lecture by Ana Paula Laborinho, Director of the Organisation of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture in Portugal. The talk, titled “What Can We Do for This Language?”, will be moderated by journalist Eduardo Oliveira e Silva, from the newspaper i.
The event will also pay tribute to Vítor Ramalho, former Secretary-General of the Union of Portuguese-Speaking Capital Cities. João Nuno Calvão da Silva, UC Vice Rector for External Relations and Alumni, will open the event, and closing remarks will be delivered by Vítor Ramalho himself and the Rector of the University of Coimbra, Amílcar Falcão.
The session will conclude with a cultural performance by the Académicos Timorenses de Coimbra. Attendance is free of charge, but prior registration is recommended by email to: dri.casadalusofonia@uc.pt.
