Queima das Fitas (Burning of the Ribbons) 2025 concluded on 31 May with one of the most iconic events on the programme: The Alumni Night. The date has already become a landmark occasion for the reunion of several generations of former students of the University of Coimbra.

In addition to concerts, the traditional 'Generations Dinner' started at 8 p.m., with proceeds going to the António Luís Gomes Social Fund, which provides emergency financial assistance to students of the University of Coimbra.

João Nuno Calvão da Silva, Vice-Rector for External Relations and Alumni at the University of Coimbra (UC), highlighted the event’s spirit of solidarity and the bond between generations. “It’s an evening where past and future alumni come together around a shared cause — helping those who need it most. It’s a Coimbra tradition that keeps growing stronger.”

Among Coimbra Fado, the traditional colourful students’ ribbons, and photos, the night was more than just a celebration. It was living proof that Coimbra is more than a city — it’s a home you always return to, with love, with stories to share…with SAUDADE!
