Innovation@UC takes place this Wednesday and includes the presentation of the J. Norberto Pires Prize
In addition to the various panels with the participation of members of the UC community, the programme also includes lectures by external speakers such as Isabel Furtado, CEO of TMG Automotive, and Brian Quist, Senior Director of Research and Development at Smith+Nephew .
The fourth edition of Inovação@UC, an annual initiative that aims to place innovation at the heart of the University of Coimbra's (UC) activities, will be held tomorrow (Wednesday 25th) at Convento São Francisco (Coimbra). The event will include the announcement and awarding of the J. Norberto Pires Innovation Prize.
Inovação@UC 2024 will allow participants to learn about projects from different fields of knowledge with links to the University of Coimbra and external companies and institutions, through short and dynamic presentations.
The opening session starts at 9 am and will be addressed by the President of the General Council of the University of Coimbra, Gabriela Figueiredo Dias, the Mayor of Coimbra, José Manuel Silva, and the Rector of the UC, Amílcar Falcão.
In addition to the various panels with the participation of members of the UC community, the programme also includes lectures by external speakers such as Isabel Furtado, CEO of TMG Automotive (one of the largest Portuguese multinationals producing materials for the automotive industry) and Brian Quist, Senior Director of Research and Development at Smith+Nephew (one of the largest multinationals in the field of medical equipment manufacturing).
At 17.45, the winning project of the 3rd edition of the J. Norberto Pires Innovation Prize will be announced. Launched in 2022 as a tribute to the late UC Professor and researcher Joaquim Norberto Pires, the award aims to encourage and recognise innovative initiatives designed and developed by students, technical staff, faculty and researchers of the University of Coimbra (UC), or those with an academic or professional affiliation to the UC.
