The Institute for Legal Research of the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra (IJ-FDUC), in collaboration with the Miguel Torga Higher Institute (ISMT), presents the series Plan D - Dialogues with the Law, an innovative project that invites reflection and debate on some of today's most pressing issues in an informal and accessible way.
Each of the eight episodes will feature a unique conversation between three different voices: a researcher from the Institute for Legal Research, a researcher from another research centre/faculty of the University of Coimbra (UC) or ISMT, and a representative from civil society, an NGO or a company. The venue for these debates will be chosen according to the topic and will take place at the UC or within the Coimbra community, reinforcing the goal of bringing the Law out of its traditional settings.
From climate change to artificial intelligence, mental health to housing, Plano D highlights the interdisciplinary nature of law and its relationship with other fields of knowledge, and how this interconnectedness is essential to addressing the challenges of our time.
Topics to be discussed include Climate Change, Virtual Currencies, Mental Health, Armed Conflict and War, Housing Challenges, Drug Policy, Artificial Intelligence and Gender Identity.
The episodes will be released at the end of each month, with the first three already available on the UC Institute for Legal Research YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@institutojuridicofduc
The project is one of 10 initiatives supported by the Promotion of Scientific Culture at the UC Institute for Interdisciplinary Research, reflecting the University of Coimbra's commitment to building a more informed, participatory and critical society.
Plano D - Dialogues with the Law is more than a project; it's an invitation to reflection, active listening, and dialogue between areas of knowledge. Understanding the Law is understanding the world we live in.
