Luna Fest will "break down the walls" of Praça da Canção and rock Coimbra. Although the main concerts are scheduled for the 6th, 7th and 8th of September, the spirit of Luna Fest will hit the city from the 30th of August, with a series of cultural events that promise to involve both the community and visitors in a unique multi-genre celebration.
From 2 to 7 September, Luna Fest will take over the Lucky Lux record store with a series of afternoon DJ sets. This year the festival will introduce a new stage in collaboration with Lux Records: the Lux Stage, featuring nine national artists.
On Wednesday the 4th, at 18:30, at the Grémio Operário de Coimbra, Paul Oak invites Pedro Renato (Belle Chase Hotel). On the same day, at 21:30, two more concerts take place at Salão Brazil (in collaboration with Jazz ao Centro Clube/Salão Brazil), with Cariño Muerto and Chuascape.
From the 5th of September to the 8th of October, visitors can see the photographic exhibition "STARDUST" by Pedro Medeiros at the Art Gallery - Casa da Mutualidade (in collaboration with A Previdência Portuguesa). In 2023, Medeiros captured the musicians, backstage moments, the stage and the audience at Luna Fest, free from the constraints of schedules or production requirements. The exhibition presents 50 selected black and white photos.
From the 6th to the 8th of September, Coolaboola will host a series of Meet & Greets and DJ sets, bringing together various artists and DJs with fans and the general public. Finally, on Saturday, the 7th of September, at 4 p.m., there will be a theatre performance on the Quebra Costas staircase, in collaboration with Coimbra IMPRO, a group dedicated to improvisational theatre—one of the most captivating genres in the vast universe of contemporary performing arts.
The Luna Fest musical programme takes place from 6 to 8 September at Praça da Canção in Coimbra:
6 September: The Twist Connection, M’as Foice, The Legendary Tigerman and the Mexican band Carrion Kids.
7 September: Birds Are Indie, Selma Uamusse e Belle Chase Hotel, Johnny Throttle, Lucy & The Rats e The Gaggers, Natty Bo & The Top Cats, Kid Congo and The Pink Monkey Birds, and Jon Spencer - Rock & Roll living legend.
