Researcher from the University of Coimbra in Task Force of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe to review recommendations for the 2030 Censuses

Mónica Rodrigues, a researcher at the University of Coimbra (UC), is part of the ‘Task Forces on the CES Recommendations on Populations and Housing Censuses for the 2030 round’, coordinated by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), as part of the panel of experts in the following areas: Housing Topics, Household & Family Charateristics and Migration & Mobility (National and International).

The reports of each Task Force were presented at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

The UC researcher participates in three of the reports coordinated by the UNECE: ‘Developing the Recommendations on Housing Topics’, ‘Developing the Recommendations on Household and Family Characteristics’, and ‘Developing the Recommendations on Migration and Mobility’. The main objective is to gather information and suggestions on the draft text from experts in national statistical offices and academia, ensuring that the text reflects the needs and priorities of these offices, and to develop CES recommendations in preparation for the 2030 Census.

The drafts of all chapters were fully presented to the expert group for discussion and feedback. This session also included presentations on innovative ways to identify, reach, and interact with stakeholders, covering all aspects of the census life cycle, detailing both recent experiences and plans for future censuses.

Mónica Rodrigues will continue her collaboration with UNECE until 2025.
