Step inside FLUC: Open Day celebrates 114th anniversary with events for all
Open classes, prizes, games, competitions, exhibitions, field trips, workshops and meetings - all part of the celebrations of the 114th anniversary of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra.
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra (FLUC) is celebrating its 114th anniversary today, 29 April.
FLUC Dean Albano Figueiredo says the past year has been very positive, “We are very pleased with how the year went overall, across all different areas.”, and highlights three key areas: academic programmes, academic and technical staff, and the triad of research, innovation, and internationalisation.
FLUC, he explains, is "going full steam ahead" in updating its Master’s and PhD programmes. As for the "renewal of academic and technical staff", he notes that in recent years, with the support of the Rector's Office, they have been able to "launch and complete almost 60 recruitment processes."
Open classes, prizes, games, competitions, exhibitions, study visits, workshops, and field trips will all be part of the celebrations marking the 114th anniversary of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra.
In terms of research, innovation and internationalisation, Albano Figueiredo points to the faculty's "270 researchers, more than 5.6 million euros in funding and an ERA Chair - a European Commission funding mechanism - the first we've been awarded in the field of music studies".
As part of the anniversary celebrations, FLUC is opening its doors to anyone who wants to join in. During this open day, "anyone can come and participate in our activities," concludes Albano Figueiredo.
