UC celebrates the 20th anniversary of the European Union's biggest enlargement
The event takes place on the 25th of October at 10 am, at Colégio da Trindade.
On the 25th of October, the University of Coimbra (UC) will host the event 'Looking back, looking forward - Conference on the 20th Anniversary of the 2004 EU Enlargement', marking the 20th anniversary of the entry of 10 countries into the European Union (EU).
Starting at 10 am at Colégio da Trindade, the event will bring together government representatives and think tanks from the 10 countries that joined the EU in 2004 - Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia—and the Portuguese Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel.
The conference will be attended by the UC Rector, Amílcar Falcão, the Secretary of State for European Affairs, Inês Domingos, and the UC Vice-Rector for External Relations and Alumni, João Nuno Calvão da Silva.
Moderated by Jónatas Machado, Director of the Faculty of Law of the UC, participants will reflect on the achievements and challenges of the last two decades and explore the future prospects for European integration and further enlargements.
