University of Coimbra maintains top certification in the Healthy Campus Programme
The certification highlights the importance of physical activity in improving the physical and mental wellbeing of the university community.
The University of Coimbra (UC) has renewed its top certification in the Healthy Campus Programme. Following an audit carried out in June, UC has once again excelled by maintaining the platinum level, the highest label awarded by FISU, after confirming compliance with all 100 assessment criteria.
The main objective of this certification programme is to implement healthy lifestyles in the academic community by promoting operational programmes in sport and physical activity that influence mental and social health, nutrition, disease prevention, risk behaviour, sustainability and social responsibility.
Filipa Godinho, UC Pro-Rector for Sport, said: "The University of Coimbra sees the Healthy Campus not only as a networking opportunity but also as a means to enhance our existing initiatives through collaboration across different domains". She further adds, "Securing this label once again demonstrates the quality of our services and the outstanding work we have achieved in sport, health (disease prevention and mental health), risk behaviour prevention, nutrition, sustainability and social responsibility. Congratulations to the UC Healthy Campus team".
The Healthy Campus Programme assesses higher education institutions on five performance levels and awards the FISU Healthy Campus Label, a quality certification that recognises the excellence of the campuses assessed. UC was one of the first universities in the world to receive this label, launched by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) in 2020.
